My leadership journey began at 22 in a small Australian bank, where I first stepped into management. Since returning to New Zealand, I have led both small and large teams through operational and organisational change in central and local government and the private sector.
I was part of the executive team as Group Manager for a local authority, overseeing a diverse portfolio that included:

Animal Services
Building Control
Planning
Community Development
Navigating these responsibilities required strong leadership, resilience, adaptability and the ability to engage multiple parties in complex compliance discussions.
One of the most significant leadership experiences of my career was as Recovery Manager following one of the most significant and devastating wildfires in recent history, the Lake Ohāu fires in 2020. Leading the response during this difficult time required sensitive and decisive leadership, along with empathetic and trustworthy relationship management skills, to support a community facing loss and uncertainty.
Recently I have been a self-employed contractor supporting the insourcing of work to a government department. This role required patience to facilitate discussions and build understanding of the mahi, the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally, and a can-do attitude to focus on what needed to be done.
I have a strong interest in community and am currently a Trustee of the Waitaki Power Trust and chair of the Stronger Waitaki Stewardship Group - a collective impact model for community development across the district.
Coaching and facilitating conversations that bring clarity, and resolution has been a hallmark of my career. These experiences have sparked my interest in mediation, where I can apply my strengths by supporting people to navigate challenges, improve collaboration, and achieve meaningful progress.
